Collect your statue award bonuses
You have probably unlocked one of these already, but there are various statues dedicated to various Roman Gods that are erected in your city after certain conditions are met. Each of these statues gives you free rewards that can be collected every few hours.

Apollo's statue requires you to combine regular collectibles, and his statue will reward you with coins, experience, and a random collectible component.

Jupiter's statue requires you to complete quests for journal progress, and his statue rewards you with coins, experience, and energy.

Minerva's statue requires you to solve challenges in a row, and her statue rewards you with coins, experience, and energy.

Juno's statue requires you to use tools a certain number of times during the levels, and her statue rewards you with coins, experience, and a Hammer tool.

Mercury's statue requires you to add friends to your friend list, and his statue rewards you with coins, experience, and energy.

Each one of these statues can be upgraded by fulfilling their quests multiple times, which improves the rewards. The quests become harder and harder every time you finish them, though! Remember to come back and collect your rewards at least once a day.

Complete the Collections and Rarities for big rewards
As you learned in the tutorial, you will find special objects when you are exploring certain buildings. These collectibles are a part of some kind of collection, and completing the entire set will award you with a "rarity". You also get a nice bonus of energy, gold, and materials.

If you want to, you can complete a set multiple times for more rewards, but you should also move onto rarities. Rarities are valuable objects just like the regular collectibles, and they too can be fused into one greater object. Completing a rarity takes a while, but it is often worth it, as you will be rewarded with a heap of coins plus an energy-restoring resource. You can stockpile a bunch of energy if you complete as many rarities as you can.

Another thing to note is that each combination, whether it is a regular collectible or a rarity, requires side components, like the Bountiful Basket or the Ruby Necklace. You can create these on certain levels by matching specific pieces. There is another way to get more of these, but this requires to have friends added into your game. When you are in the collections screen, you can tap on any of the components to add it to your wish list. Anyone on your friends list can help you out with the components from there!

Conserve moves and use the special pieces
You can beat most of the early levels by just simply matching whatever you see available at the moment, but when you get to the later levels you will need to start planning. Do not just match wildly - plan out your moves and make each one count. Try to match pieces in a way that will make it easier for you to create the special pieces. Using the special pieces to your advantage is the key to clearing a level with a few amount of moves. Also, when you clear a level with leftover moves, all of your moves are turned into bonus points!

Create the special pieces
Just like any other match-3 puzzle game, Jewels of Rome features special pieces that are materialized upon matching more than three pieces at a time. Here is a list of them and what they do!

Matching four objects creates a power piece that explodes in a straight row or column. The direction the explosion will move in is indicated by the direction of the three white lines on the power piece.

Matching five objects creates a rainbow jewel that can be used to clear the entire board of a single type of piece. For example, if you move the rainbow jewel onto a purple piece, all purples on the board will be matched!

Matching five objects in a "L" or "T" shape will result in a bomb piece. This piece when activated will detonate and match all adjacent pieces around it. Use this piece to clear out clusters!

Follow your journal
Your current quest to restore Ancient Rome is tracked by your journal. Here, you can read about all of the happenings and occurrences of the settlement and what needs to be taken care of next. You can also tap on the quest markers at the top left corner of the screen. The progress of your city restoration project is done solely by advancing through the quests, so make sure that you follow your journal and always be working towards the next quest. They usually involve some form of relic collecting, which we will explain now!

Use Tools to get the job done
If you do not think you are going to make the level goal within the remaining moves, do not hesitate to use your Tools if you are very close. Tools are power ups that can save the day when you are in a bind. Here is all of them in the game!

The Hammer is your basic beginning tool, and they allow you to immediately match any object on the board of your choosing. If you need just one more object or you need to get rid of a little bit of sand, the Hammer is a great choice.

A pair of Sandals adds more moves to your move pool. If you are very close to victory, you can use Sandals to get a few more moves to close out the level.

The Firepot acts like a bomb, and detonates in a 3x3 square around a piece of your choosing. These are basically stronger Hammers, so use them if you do not care about where the surrounding pieces will end up.

The Chariot acts like the super piece that blast the entire row. If you need to shift the board downward or get rid of a bunch of pieces in a row, use a Chariot!

The Whirlwind is basically a reset button. Using one of these will shuffle the entire board, which is good for when you get stuck in a really bad placement.

The Step Barrel adds additional turns to all Step Bombs on the board. This is good if you need to buy yourself some more time before getting the bombs into place.

The Gecko Catch is a failsafe that catches any Geckos that have managed to cross the entire field.
